A grass fire that went out of control Monday morning in Finney County resulted in two vehicle crashes involving three vehicles. According to Garden City Fire Chief Allen Shelton, firefighters responded to 17000 Byrd Road at 9:23 a.m. when the grass fire spread quickly due to strong wind conditions. Finney County Undersheriff John Andrews said the sheriff’s office responded to two traffic accidents on Byrd Road Monday morning. At 9:47 a.m., a 1984 fire truck belonging to the Garden City Fire Department driven by Jeremy Moore, 30, was northbound on Byrd Road en route to the grass fire when it crossed a raise in the road.
