Berne Township firefighter is being treated in the burn unit of a Columbus hospital after he walked into a downed power line Monday. Firefighter Donnie L. Thimmes, of Lancaster, walked into a power line at the scene of a fire about 7:30 p.m. Fire Chief Dave Hammond said the 65-year-old firefighter tripped over a log and became entangled in the power lines. Thimmes is in an induced coma in the Ohio State University Medical Center, Hammond said; however, hospital officials said they have no record of Thimmes at the facility.
