While responding to a collapsed roof with an Aerial Ladder I noticed one of the spring loaded side mount doors failed to latch. As I approached it to secure the latch the door swung open hitting me in the chin/lower lip area. My front incisor was broken in half and I received a 2 cm laceration on my chin that took five stitches to close. LESSONS LEARNED: When approaching side mount doors always keep your hands extended towards the door to stop any impacts if the door unexpectedly opens.
