Mayday Floor Collapse At Buffalo Fire

Buffalo Firefighters responded this evening for a report of a structure fire on Mohican Ave. Engine 33 went on location with fire showing from the 2nd floor of a 2 1/2 story vacant. E33 also reported fire on the 1st floor. Two Maydays were issued for 2 Firefighters who fell through a hole on the 2nd floor to the 1st floor. B-56 requested additional equipment bringing Engine 23 & Ladder 15 to the scene after the 2nd Mayday. Both Firefighters were transported to ECMC in unknown condition. The fire was under control in 23 minutes. …
Ambulance Accident Under Investigation – Maryland
Four people suffered minor injuries in a Prince George’s County ambulance accident. At approximately 11:30 Thursday night, a county ambulance assigned to Company 808, Seat Pleasant, was involved in a car accident at the intersection of Eastern Avenue and Addison Road in Chapel Oaks, Md. Approximately 10 firefighters and paramedics were on the scene and evaluated a total of four patients. All of those patients were okay, receiving only minor injuries. According to officials, the car driver refused transport and two firefighter/EMTs and another patient were taken to area hospitals for further evaluation. All are expected to be released from the hospital Friday. The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the Prince George’s Police Department. The department said a post-accident drug/alcohol screening will be conducted with ambulance driver….
Family Sues In Death Of Alabama EMT
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – A Montgomery law firm has fined a suit on behalf of the family of an emergency medical technician who died after being hit by a pickup truck at an accident scene. State Troopers say 29-year-old Laura Elizabeth Pullam of Lowndesboro was helping victims of a crash when she was fatally injured on Dec. 15 on Interstate 65 near Montgomery. The Beasley Allen law firm brought the suit against pickup truck driver Robert Cumbie. The suit says Cumbie was driving too fast for icy road conditions and failed to slow for emergency vehicles. The lawsuit asks for damages to provide for Pullam’s infant daughter. Cumbie has declined comment.
East Williston Man Arrested for DWI in Ambulance Crash – New York
By Timothy Bolger A 28-year-old man was arrested for drunken driving after he crashed his SUV into an ambulance in his hometown of East Williston early Thursday morning, Nassau County police said. Robert Arroyo, who was driving a Ford Explorer, pulled away from the curb in front of his Donald Street home and struck the side of a northbound Nassau County Police Ambulance at 3:50 a.m., police said. There were no injuries reported. Arroyo was charged with driving while intoxicated. He will be arraigned Thursday at First District Court in Hempstead. …
